| A versatile musician, fascinated by different periods and styles, François Lazarevitch is a specialist in early and traditional flutes and bagpipes. He studied with eminent masters of early and traditional music. He was awarded the highest distinctions at the Paris (CNSM and CNR), Brussels, Toulouse, and Versailles Conservatoires. In 2004 he won three international piping competitions in Paris and Saint-Chartier. With his own ensemble, Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien, he gives performances of early or traditional music (especially at the Festival de Saint-Chartier, the Salle Cortot, the Sénat, the Centre de Musique Baroque of Versailles, the Theatre of Cherbourg, at the French House of Washington in America, and at the Bellas Artes in Mexico). He directs a series of 7 CDs entitled 1000 years of bagpipe music in France on the Alpha label with the support of Mécénat Musical Société Générale. He has initiated The Four Pipers project, a meeting of four pipers from different countries : France, Ireland, Scotland and Northumberland with a Spanish harpist. This programme was created at the Printemps des Arts in Nantes with the support of the Meyer foundation. His versatile instrumental activity enables him to participate in wide projects with other ensembles: • Middle-Ages repertoire: Micrologus ensemble (P. Bovi), Aziman ensemble (A. Azéma); • Renaissance repertoire: Les Flûtes d’Allemand (P. Allain-Dupré), La Capilla Flamenca (D. Snellings); • Baroque repertoire: Le Concert Spirituel (H. Niquet), La Simphonie du Marais (H. Reyne), Le Concert d’Astrée (E. Haïm), Les Talens Lyriques (C. Rousset), Le Parlement de Musique (M. Gester), La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy (J.-C. Malgoire), the Orchestre of the Boston Festival (P. O’Dette et S. Stubs); • Classical and Romantic repertoires: with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie (J. Rohrer), Opera Fuoco (D. Stern) and Le Capricio Français (P. Le Fèvre); • Traditional repertoire: Ensemble F. Al-Aiedy, in duo with D. Paris He has also taken part in contemporary works, especially compositions by Gérard Pesson (Ombres nous-mêmes and Rubato ma glissando, with an art installation by Annette Messager), John Tavener and Vincent Bouchot, as well as in theatre, music and combination (Le Jeu de Robin et Marion by A. De la Halle with the Micrologus ensemble and Monsieur de Pourceaugnac by Molière and Lully with the Sandrine Anglade Company). He has performed in Europe, Asia and in America.
