Les Baricades mistérieuses

A Jazz/Baroque Encounter

Description

”Les Baricades Mistérieuses”, an artistic endeavour instigated by Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien, explores diverse improvisatory practices in the past and the present day.  Baroque flutist François Lazarevitch and jazz guitarist Serge Lazarevitch are both celebrated musicians in their respective fields. Here they join forces with Pierre Rigopoulos, a master of the zarb (an Iranian drum), establishing a subtle musical dialogue that stems from combing their individual styles with active listening and swing.

The programme is made up of early music seen through the prism of jazz, improvisations, compositions by Serge Lazarevitch inspired by traditional works, themes by D. Holland and J. Zorn…
